PANIOLO
HALE SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING REPORT
October
28, 2011
Members
present: George Johnson, John Fernald,
Sue Treder, Ralph Treder, Myndi Long (Chair)
Items
discussed:
1.
Make
sure proposed 2011 Paniolo Hale Fire Safety Policy is on agenda for upcoming
Board Meeting.
2.
Insurance
companies are addressing mitigation issues relevant to fire insurance
rates. We need to be proactive to help
minimize fire danger, possibly avoid higher fire insurance rates (e.g. – tree
trimming, removing flammable materials from under units, wider fire breaks on
Lio Place as well as east side of Paniolo Hale)
3.
Have
John and George conduct annual fire hose test with PH staff (probably the week
after the Board meeting). Post it so owners
can witness the mechanics of how to set up and use hose.
4.
Sue
Treder will make up a quiz for Annual Owners’ Meeting regarding safety
awareness: location of fire hose boxes,
items contained in fire hose boxes, smoke alarms, AED location, etc.
5.
Ask
John Pele about any existing Paniolo Hale evacuation plan. Each owner should have their own plan in
place for their specific unit.
6.
Get
email address list from Sharon Vick in order to email regular safety hints to
owners.
7.
George
and/or John to address Annual Owner’s Meeting about fire safety issues relevant
to Paniolo Hale, Insurance Services Office (ISO)
and how property /casualty
insurance risk is determined.
8.
Via
the West Molokai Association, the Ranch has been making some improvements to
the west end (e.g. – street lights, paving).
Enlist their assistance in contacting the Ranch to mow firebreaks on
Ranch property surrounding Paniolo Hale (along Lio Place, east side of PH).
